My work is created through a perceptual process, even when I begin work about popular culture, like the Spectacle Spectacular work. The drawings and paintings were created by exploring issues of Vogue magazine from 1980-2000. Before beginning each piece, I deconstructed and reconstructed select issues by that, I meant I created a unique 3-D maquette to serve as a still life for each work. Multiple fashion editorials were re-edited, slashed, cut, and pasted into a composite subject for each painting. The weekly figure drawing sessions contribute to my perceptual ability, enabling me to translate images and objects from pop culture with artistic depth.
